News Letter No.67. November, 1963.
News this month is in short supply as the October news letter was late in distribution.
The main event in November is the 9th Annual Birthday Party at Headquarters at 4p.m. on 30th, when the chief guests will be the District Commissioner and his Lady.
Parents and Friends are especially invited to join us from 6p.m. onwards.
Will all Parents who would like to help with the catering by making cakes etc., please let me know and send them along to H.Q. on the morning of Nov.30th. Jellies (not made up), tinned fruit, sugar etc, should be brought by Cubs on Tuesday evening Nov.26th and by Scouts on Friday evening Nov.29th.
CUBS. Cub night will in future be on Tuesday evenings from 6.45 to 8.00 p.m.
The following three boys were invested on November 4th: Paul Kerrison, Stephen Kilsby and Nigel Brown.
HEADQUARTERS. Re-painting has commenced on Sunday mornings and any evening that can be arranged. All assistance is needed particularly from Seniors and Rovers if we are to finish the job before the party.
JUDO. Classes will commence at H.Q. on Monday November 18th at 7 p.m. All members of the Group of 11 years and upwards are invited to attend. The sessions will last about an hour.
SPECIAL EVENTS TAKING PLACE DURING NOVEMBER & DECEMBER.
Tuesday November 26th. 7.00p.m. at Marlborough Road Hall. A film show of the Marathon Jamboree 1963 with a running commentary by Father Corrigan, who attended the Jamboree as National R.C. Scout Chaplain to the British Contingent. Admission is free and all members of Group Committees are invited.
Thursday November 28th. 7.00 p.m. at 7th Banbury H.Q. First Aid and Ambulance course by Mr.Handsford (B.P.Guild & S.J.A.B.) a state registered nurse. The course will cover 8 sessions. All who are interested please let me know at once.
Saturday November 30th. 4 p.m. at our H.Q. 9th Birthday Party.
Thursday December 12th. 7.30 p.m. At 7th Banbury H.Q. All District Scouters Meeting. The Oxford D.C. will be talking about the Chief Scout’s visit to the County on June 20th 1964. The Carol Service will be discussed and possibly a film of the National Scout Race (Soapbox Derby) will be shewn.
Sunday December 22nd. 7.30 p.m. Marlborough Road Methodist Chapel Service of 9 lessons and carols, conducted by the Rev.Hully in conjunction with the B.P.Guild and Girl Guides Assoc. Lessons will be read by members of the movement.
