1st Bodicote Scout Group.

News letter No , 59 February 1963.

The severe weather is still hampering our activities in the Group by keeping our attendances low although the past two weeks have shown a great improvement.

The Cubs are keeping up a pretty good attendance and are gradually getting back to normal despite the difficulties of the Cub Scouters contending with getting to Cubs on time after arriving home late from business and often going without a meal until after 8 p.m.

It is pleasing to note that Philip Walker and Lawrence Keen have gained their 1st star and Colin Pearson his Guide Badge. Well done. Martin Wright, brother of a former Scout was invested during January. Good Cubbing to you Martin.

The Scouts, when they all attend, now number 15 with the joining of~ Alan Clarke. I hope that he will soon pass his Tenderfoot and be invested as a Scout. I had the pleasure of investing Roger Hogben and Robert Bedlow as Scouts on January 18th and look f3orward to doing the same for Paul Buzzard and Ronnie Gray in the next. week or so.

We were pleased to we1come to the Scout meetings, Mike Kerr, from Stockport. He is temporarily residing in this district and has offered to help us in any way. We have gratefully accepted his offer. I have just been notified that Mr. H. Golding the District Commissioner has finally resigned and his post will be taken over by Mr.R.Beck who was until recently D.C. at Andover. We wish him good luck in his new District and look forward to meeting him shortly.

PARENT’S DINNER. As the Choir Supper is being held on February 23rd it has been necessary to postpone our Dinner until March 9th at 7pm in the Headquarters. Will all Parents please let me know not later than March 2nd if they will be attending. May I ask those who have already replied for February 23rd to advise me again re March 9th.

Summer camp has not yet been fixed but all boys are advised to start paying in to the camp bank now. Money will be returned to those who for any reason find later that they cannot attend.
